A distinctive feature of contemporary life is modern information and communication technologies with their strongly interactive character, which has become an integral part of our lives. Alongside traditional computers, there is a diversity of digital devices and interfaces that we use in our personal, social and public life. User experience design (UXD) is a multidisciplinary area dealing with the design, evaluation and application of usable and effective user interfaces in an enjoyable manner, be they analogue or digital. UXD is a user-centred approach that can be used to rethink human interactions with information environments through considering the human factors within any information ecology.

This workshop will introduce you to the theories, techniques, ideas and models involved in designing and evaluating user-friendly and effective information environments using ethnographic approaches. It aims to demystify UXD by providing an accessible introduction to what UX is while also explaining some of its core concepts of usability. During the workshop, you will be guided through the process of user research, persona development, user goals, user flows, wireframing, prototyping, and usability specifications. Using hands-on exercises that promote interactive learning and exploration, you will be able to choose a user experience environment or interface to work on and design an enjoyable experience for your users.
